Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya to visit Kerala on Monday to assess Covid defense measures

NEW DELHI: A team of experts led by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya is arriving in Kerala as the spread of Covid continues to be high. The Union Minister will arrive on Monday to directly assess the defense measures. The team will visit all the states where Covid transmission continues to be strong. Kerala is the first of these and Mansukh Mandaviya will meet Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

The Union health secretary and the NCDC Chief will accompany the minister. The Central team had warned yesterday that the number of Covid cases in Kerala would increase in the coming days due to the Onam season and the relaxation of lockdown restrictions. The state has the highest number of patients per day in the country. The state confirmed 20,452 Covid cases today. The test positivity rate is also over 14 percent.
