Suicide of woman in Cheruthuruthy due to dowry harassment, case against husband and family

THRISSUR: The relatives of the woman, who committed suicide at her husband’s house, said she took the extreme step due to dowry harassment. Krishna Prabha (24), a native of Chertuhuruthy and wife of Sivaraj of Palakkad committed suicide due to dowry harassment, her parents complained at the Cheruthuruthy police. The police registered a case arraigning her husband and his relatives.

Krishna Prabha, daughter of Puthussery Kuttan and Radha from Cheruthuruthy, married Sivaraj, who studied with her, three years ago. It was a love marriage. The marriage took place after Krishna Prabha told police that she wanted to go with him. She had not visited her parents after the marriage.

However, before committing suicide on Saturday, she had called her mother Radha and told her that she has some problems and asked her to come home. Sivaraj's mother told them there were no problems at all. They said that she had gone to Ernakulam for her work and came home on the previous day of the incident.
