NEW DELHI: KPCC chief K Sudhakaran, who reached Delhi with the shortlist for the selection of DCC chiefs in the state, is holding talks with various leaders. A decision could not be taken in the last round of talks on the congress chiefs in five districts. A decision could not be taken as there are more than one name in the list in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Palakkad districts.
As there were widespread complaints on the list prepared first and submitted to the high command, K Sudhakaran prepared a new list after consulting with opposition leader V D Satheesan.
Sudhakaran held talks with AICC general secretary K C Venugopal today. He will soon meet Tariq Anwar, in charge of Kerala. The revised shortlist will be shown to Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. Tariq Anwar will meet Oommen Chandy and Chennithala before announcing the new office bearers to resolve the complaints.
The KPCC chief is trying to convince the high command that the list is his, which points to performance excellence over age. Senior leaders are in the fore with nominees for the chief’s post in various districts. Shashi Tharoor bats for G S Babu in Thiruvananthapuram. The names of former MLA K S Sabrinathan and Manakkad Suresh are also there.
In Kollam, the name of M A Nazir from ‘I’ Group is heard. Oommen Chandy and Kodikunnil Suresh are batting for Rajendra Prasad. In Alappuzha, the names of K C Venugopal's nominee K P Sreekumar and Chennithala's nominee Babu Prasad are heard. Despite protests against Oommen Chandy in Kottayam, it is certain that one from the ‘A’ group will be the next president.
The names of leaders are being mentioned as nominees of Sudhakaran, V D Satheesan and K C Venugopal. They are A V Gopinath, V T Balram and A Thankappan.
