NEW DELHI: The Centre has imposed strict conditions on the use of drones in the wake of increasing terrorist attacks. The conditions are based on an earlier draft policy in this regard.
Under the new rules, special identification number and registration are mandatory for drones. The rules specifically state that unregistered drones should no longer be used. The rules stipulate that these conditions will be strict even when drones are leased and that regulation will be regulated for regional use.
The number of terrorist attacks using drones increased in the country recently. The attack on the Jammu airport did not cause any casualties or damage as the terrorists missed the target. Drones have appeared several times in various parts of Jammu and Kashmir since then. Some were shot by the army. It was clear that the drones were coming from across the border from Pakistan. Drones are widely used to smuggle weapons and drugs. With this, the army had earlier imposed strict conditions on the purchase and use of drones in and around Jammu.
