Youth in home quarantine found hanging

PUNALUR: A youth, who was in home quarantine after his brother tested positive for Covid, was found hanging. The deceased has been identified as Punalur Tholikodu native Vishwakumar (20). He was found hanging on a tree near his house on Saturday morning. It is believed that he committed suicide due to mental stress caused during home quarantine.

All members of Vishwakumar's family were in home quarantine after his elder brother Vishnukumar tested positive for Covid. Vishwakumar was found hanging outside the house after his family began searching for him since they did not find him in his room.

upon checking his mobile phone, it was found that he had written a suicide note. The message read, 'Life got ruined due to Covid. Sorry, everyone.' Punalur police reached the spot and took the body to the Taluk hospital. Vishwakumar's Covid test result has returned negative.
