THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Transport Minister Antony Raju has issued an order to evacuate the KSRTC building in Kozhikode within a month. Earlier, a team from Chennai IIT had given a report stating that the building was debilitated. The minister took the action based on this report.

A study led by IIT structural engineer Alagappa Sundaram found that the building was debilitated. The Transport Minister took immediate action following the team's recommendation that the building should be strengthened immediately. A new tender will be called for the construction work after the building is evacuated. The building was constructed at Rs 75 crore. It is expected to cost Rs 30 crore to strengthen the building.

The building, which includes a shopping mall and KSRTC stand, was completed in 2015. The building became operational after years of uncertainty. Although the construction was completed, the KSRTC building came into full use several years later.
