SIR: No mapping for 19.32 lakh; hearing from January 7th

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As part of the revision of the SIR voter list in Kerala, the hearing to verify the authenticity and citizenship of 19.32 lakh voters whose relationship could not be proven by comparing it with the 2002 voter list will begin on the 7th.

The first phase of the SIR, the enumeration form, was completed and the draft voter list was published on December 23. The number of voters in Kerala decreased from 2.78 crore to 2.54 crore, and 24 lakh people were excluded. 19.32 lakh people were excluded when the mapping was completed to compare it with the 2002 voter list. They will be included in the final voter list to be released on February 21 if their citizenship can be validated. Otherwise, they will be excluded.

Out of 19.32 lakh names, notices have been distributed to 17.71 lakh people. Of these, 5.12 lakh people have been verified and confirmed, Chief Electoral Officer Ratan Khelkar said.

Notices are being issued to 3.92 lakh people in Thiruvananthapuram district, 1.53 lakh in Kollam and 2 lakh in Ernakulam. 81,000 people in Malappuram. Those who have been excluded from the voter list and those who have not yet been included can be included in the voter list by filling out Form 6 online till January 22. People can also fill out Form 6 in person at the BLOs. Those whose names cannot be compared with the 2002 voter list due to technical errors such as spelling errors and age differences will not be summoned for hearing by issuing notices. EROs have also been instructed to provide necessary facilities for bedridden patients.
