THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister Veena George has said that over 2.5 crore people in the state have been administered the first dose of the Covid vaccine. The first dose was given to 93.64 per cent (2,50,11,209) of the eligible population and the second dose to 44.50 per cent (1,18,84,300). A total of 3,68,95,509 doses of the first and second doses have been given so far. About 10 lakh people, who contracted the disease, need to get vaccinated only after 3 months. Therefore, only seven lakh people are yet to get the first dose of the vaccine.

"Those who have not taken the first dose of the vaccine should go directly to the nearest vaccination centre and receive the vaccine. Those who are yet to take the second dose of the vaccine should not delay. The second dose should be taken immediately after 84 days of taking the first dose of the Covishield vaccine and 28 days after Covaxin. However, some people do not go to the vaccination centre after 84 days. Complete results can be obtained only if both doses of the vaccine are taken at regular intervals. People should take the second dose of the vaccine on time," the minister said.
