NEW DELHI: The central government is planning to link birth certificates to citizenship. This is one of the plans included in the 60-point action plan that will be implemented jointly by various ministries on the instructions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Currently, there is no identity document in the country just to prove citizenship. The plan is to link citizenship to birth certificate through modern technology.

The government is also considering manufacturing low-cost tablets and laptops in order to put an end to digital discrimination in online education. Special scholarships will also be given to students. The Union Ministry of Information Technology is in charge of this.

A single environmental law will be enacted. Incentives will be given to the states which acquire land on time for various projects.

The 60-point action plan was decided after a meeting between the Prime Minister and secretaries of various ministries on September 18. The Cabinet Secretariat has selected the leading ministries to implement this. The Centre will seek proposals from the state regarding the projects
