Landslide at Kootickal; 20 families stranded in flash floods

KOTTAYAM: Kootickal panchayat in Kottayam, which was devasted by strong flash floods a few weeks ago, is once again witnessing landslides and flash floods. The landslide occurred at Mlakkara in Kootickal panchayat this evening due to heavy rain. The panchayat president said that there were reports of landslides in three places.

In Mlakkara, about 20 families were stranded in flash floods. Efforts are underway to rescue them. The NDRF team has reached the spot. Firefighters, police and people's representatives have also joined the rescue operation.
