KOCHI: Five people, including former Kochi mayor and Congress leader Tony Chammany, have surrendered in connection with the attack on actor Jojo George's car. The five leaders, including Chammany and Youth Congress leader CI Shahjahan, staged a protest in front of the police station before surrendering. They appeared before the police in a march led by the Maradu Mandalam committee. Several prominent Congress leaders in the district also took part in the march.
Chammany alleged that the police had registered a case against him on a false complaint. He said that the party would face the case legally and politically. "Congress organised the protest after informing the authorities and the public. The protest was an intense one as it was an intense topic that affected the common man," he said. Chammany added that the party workers got provoked when Joju tried to disrupt the protest.
