SABARIMALA: Minister K Radhakrishnan on Tuesday said that more pilgrims will arrive at Sabarimala when the weather becomes favourable. The minister was speaking at a press conference after the review meeting at Sannidhanam. He said that the Sabarimala Mandala - Makaravilakku pilgrimage will be conducted smoothly.
"The restrictions were imposed to ensure the safety of pilgrims in view of Covid. Necessary facilities have been arranged for the pilgrims. Currently, 13 lakh people have booked online for darshan. Devotees have been asked not to venture into the Pampa river as the water level remains high. Steps will be taken to rebuild the Njunangar bridge in Pampa which was damaged due to heavy rains. Pilgrimage-related construction works were disrupted due to natural calamities. However, we were able to overcome this and carry the works forward. Repair works of damaged roads will be completed as soon as possible. We will complete pilgrimage by taking adequate precautions," the minister said.
