Elderly woman of orphanage caned for falling asleep during prayers, case against manager

KOLLAM: A case has been registered against the manager of the orphanage for caning an inmate of it. The case was registered against advocate Sajeevan, manager of Arpitha Snehalayam of Anchal in Kollam. He caned the elderly woman for falling asleep during the prayers. A case was taken against him after the images of the video circulated. The video also shows Sajeevan talking rudely with the other inmates of the orphanage.

The incident happened in last August. Justin Saleem, an employee of the orphanage, shot the video in his phone and then handed it over to the police. He also lodged a complaint to many including the DGP.

Meantime, Sajeevan said Justin circulated the video due to the enmity of ousting him from the firm. He also said that he had not caned her instead hit on her chair. DYFI staged a protest to the orphanage demanding a detailed investigation in the incident.
