KOZHIKODE: The Kozhikode DCC has taken action against two Congress leaders who were accused of attacking journalists. The DCC has suspended main accused Prasanth Kumar and Congress mandalam president Rajeevan Thiruvachira. The inquiry commission appointed by the DCC found that CCTV footage showed that the two had led the attack against the journalists on Saturday. The DCC has also asked former DCC president U Rajeev to tender a public apology. The party decided to take action against Rajeev for not being vigilant in the incident of indecent assault on women journalists and others. In addition, DCC General Secretary Suresh, who was with the attackers, will be warned in public.
The report of the DCC inquiry commission and recommendations were handed over to the KPCC president on Wednesday night. The action was taken on the instructions of KPCC president K Sudhakaran. The inquiry commission, headed by senior Congress leaders CV Kunhikrishnan and John Poothakuzhi, reported to the DCC president.
