Minister Rajeev visits Mofiya’s family, victim’s father speaks to CM on phone

ERNAKULAM: Industries Minister P Rajeev visited the house of Mofiya Parveen, who committed suicide in Aluva after being insulted by the circle inspector. The chief minister spoke to Mofiya's father on the phone. The minister assured the family that strict action would be taken against the accused. Speaking on the phone, the chief minister told the family that the government will not be with the wrongdoers and ensured justice for the family.

Dilshad, Mofiya's father later said he is relieved on the assurance of the chief minister. The investigation against the circle inspector is progressing. A departmental probe is presently going on and transfer is part of it, the minister said while talking to the media. The case will be investigated by the Ernakulam rural district crime branch and a special investigation team has been formed for this.


Although Aluva circle inspector C L Sudheer was transferred to the police headquarters following the incident, the Congress’ agitation is continuing in Aluva. Mofiya committed suicide on Tuesday after leaving a note that she was insulted by the officer in front of the accused when approached with a domestic harassment complaint.
