THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister Veena George said the samples of eight people sent for Omicron genome sequencing from Kerala have turned negative. The samples of two each from Kozhikode, Malappuram and Ernakulam and one each from Thiruvananthapuram and Pathanamthitta have turned negative. The results of two are awaited.

The samples of those coming from high risk countries and turning positive in RTPCR tests are sent for genome sequencing. The genome sequencing test is conducted at the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Bio Technology.

Meantime, one more who landed at the Kozhikode Airport from high risk country has turned Covid positive. His samples have been sent for genome sequencing. The minister said though the initial results have turned negative there should be no lack of vigilance.
