Cricket match of top police officials before funeral of colleague drowned

THIRUVANANTHPUARM: Conducting a cricket match by top police officials before the funeral of their colleague drowned, has stoked a controversy. Balu, a civil police officer drowned after the boat drowned near Varkala while going to nab Ottakam Rajesh, accused in the Pothencode murder case. The body is kept at the SAP camp for public homage and after this will be taken to his house in Punnapra, Alappuzha for the cremation. Meanwhile, a cricket match between IPS and IAS is going on in the capital city.

They did not have the courtesy to postpone the match when one of their colleagues died on official duty. The match held at the Greenfield Stadium was attended by ADGP Yogesh Gupta, Thiruvananthapuram city police commissioner, Balram Kumar Upadhya and Thiruvananthapuram DCP Vaibav Saksena. Apart from their colleague’s death, twin murders rocked Alappuzha.
