PALAKKAD: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan warned against sectarian activities in Palakkad party conventions. The Chief Minister warned against the strengthening of sectarian activities in the party in the district at the delegates' meeting held as part of the CPM Palakkad conference. Pinarayi said that the creation of small groups by some leaders has come to notice and are seeing growth in them. He said this in his reply speech to the organizational report.

Sectarian efforts within the party will not be tolerated in any way. At the state level, sectarianism within the party has been completely eliminated. If sectarianism is repeated, the party will go the way of the party. Pinarayi warned the leaders that strict action would be taken in this regard.

Earlier in the day, the delegates had leveled harsh criticism against the police and former MLA and KTDC chairman PK Sasi at the district conference. The delegates raised the issue in the presence of the Chief Minister. Delegates said the police were acting in a way that would embarrass the government. Criticism was leveled at the district leadership and state committee members. Delegates blamed sectarian tensions on regional units in the district because the district leadership had become useless. In many places, the problems were exacerbated by the district secretary's inefficiency. Representatives from the Puthussery Pattambi area raised criticism.
