KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Thursday said that it was shameful to say that some of the Taluk hospitals in the state did not have maternity wards. Justice N Nagaresh also said that it was a pity that the court had to say this in an era where hospitals are witnessing increasing facilities through modern technology.

The single bench said this while considering the petition seeking a maternity ward and operation theatre at Peerumedu Taluk Hospital. Earlier, the court had sought the government's report on the matter. The petition was adjourned to January 18 as the government sought more time to submit the report. The petition was filed by Peerumedu native TA Azad.
