Many injured after building under construction in Markaz Knowledge City collapses

KOZHIKODE: A building under construction in Markaz Knowledge City at Kaithapoyil in the district collapsed. Almost twenty people sustained injuries in the accident. The condition of five is stated to be serious. Those injured were construction workers and they have been shifted to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.

The accident happened during the construction of a private school building. The concrete of the first floor was underway. Initial reports said the pillar slipped and caused the accident. The collapsed parts of the building are being removed.

The building belongs to the trust led by Kanthapuram. The accident happened in a place where there is a mosque and various building including a law college.
