Unprecedented spike as Kerala records 46,387 COVID-19 cases on Thursday, TPR at 40.21

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 46,387 COVID-19 cases on Thursday. Among these, 43,176 persons developed the disease through contact, including 2654 cases without an identified source of infection. 172 persons, who came from outside the state, tested positive for the virus. 385 health workers contracted the disease on Thursday.

15,388 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 1,99,041 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 32 deaths due to the virus on Thursday with the toll rising to 51,501.

District wise breakup of positive cases:

Thiruvananthapuram 9720, Ernakulam 9605, Kozhikode 4016, Thrissur 3627, Kottayam 3091, Kollam 3002, Palakkad 2268, Malappuram 2259, Kannur 1973, Alappuzha 1926, Pathanamthitta 1497, Idukki 1441, Kasaragod 1135, Wayanad 827.

1,15,357 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate stands at 40.21.
