Managers without mercy

veena-george-

The government will formulate and implement many schemes with good intentions. It will go very well in the beginning. Ordinary people at the grassroots level of society will benefit the most from these schemes. One of the best initiatives of this kind is the Karunya Pharmacy, which is mainly run by medical colleges. Here the price of the drug is much lower than the price in the general market. So you can always see people waiting in line to buy medicine at Karunya counters.

Another feature of Karunya Pharmacy is that it is open 24 hours a day. Also, those giving the prescribed drugs here will have adequate educational qualifications. Not all medications may be available at the medical college. In the past, relatives used to rush to private pharmacies for medicines that the doctor told them to buy from outside. They would charge exorbitant prices for the essentials. Most of the victims were the poor who did not even know how to check the bill. After this crossed all the limits, the concept of Karunya Pharmacy was implemented following the intervention of public activists and lawmakers. It turned out to be a huge success. Even people living in different parts of the city started buying medicines for diabetes and other diseases regularly from here. When this succeeded, private shops outside also had to control prices, albeit at a lower rate. Naturally, they began to think of ways to undermine Karunya Pharmacy. They found that influencing the managers who of Karunya Pharmacies could prevent this act of charity. If the manager does not order the medicine as it goes out of stock, the systematic process will face disruption.

Any plan of the government will turn into a hostile plan for the people over time if inconsiderate executives come to the fore. Realizing this, the visit of Health Minister Veena George to the Karunya Pharmacy on the premises of the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College to buy medicine can be considered as a very positive intervention. The staff lied to the minister that the stock of medicines didn't arrive after ordering it. Ordinary people can only hear that and go back. Being a minister, she went inside and checked on the computer and found that the medicine has not been ordered. The Minister should focus on appointing compassionate people who are not bribe-takers as managers of Karunya Pharmacies. This will be act of kindness rather than being an administrative action.
