KOCHI: The crime branch said that one of the 12 chats deleted from the phone of actor Dileep, the main accused in the murder conspiracy case, was with Ahmed Gulchen, an Iranian citizen. Director Balachandra Kumar had stated that Gulchen, who works in the film industry in the UAE, is providing financial support to Dileep. When the investigation was going on it was found that Dileep had deleted data from his iPhone through cyber expert Sai Sankar.

Preliminary information is that Gulchen is in the business of remaking movies. Kumar had stated that he has links with underworld leader Dawood Ibrahim's D Company and that Dileep had visited Gulchen in Dubai. The crime branch is investigating whether money was received from Gulchen and why he communicated with him.

Among the deleted include chats to Sharjah Cricket Association CEO Galif, who has business in Dubai. Chats to Dubai partner of ‘De Puttu’ were also deleted. Dileep also deleted chats with Nazir, a native of Thrissur and a social worker in Dubai, Jaffer from Malappuram, who runs a supermarket in Dubai and his sister's husband Sooraj. The investigating officials said the chats were deleted in such a way that it cannot be retrieved.

The crime branch will seek the help of mobile service providers to collect the details of them.
