Government's Janani Homoeopathic Fertility Care a success, cost of treatment is Rs 50

KANNUR: When couples spend lakhs of rupees on modern fertility treatments to have a baby, 2180 babies have been born using the treatment provided at Govt. Homeo hospital by only paying Rs 50 as registration fees.

The treatment started as a experiment in 2012 at Kannur District Homoeo Hospital and was later taken over by Homoeo Hospitals in Kerala. At least two years is required for treatment sometimes it is likely to last up to 10 years. Couples who have adopted other treatments but have not been successful finally relies on homeopathy.

The government gave permission for state-wide treatment under the name 'Janani' in 2019. Even before that, 420 babies had been born in Kannur district alone. The Union Finance Minister mentioned and praised the success of Kannur Homoeo Hospital in the 2018-19 Economic Survey presented in Parliament. Babies were born to couples even at the age of 55 years under this treatment.
