Fatima and Adhila can now live together, no ban on adults, rules High Court

KOCHI: The High Court has granted permission to lesbian couples to live together. The court declared the order in a habeas corpus plea submitted by Aluva native Adhila Nazrin. After considering her plea, the court reunited her with her partner. The court ruled that as both of them were adults, they are not barred from living together.

Adhila Nazrin had said in the petition that they have the right to live together as per the Supreme Court order. In the petition, Adhila asked the court and the police to stand by them. She approached the court on Tuesday alleging that her partner Fatima had been forcibly detained by relatives.

Adhila and Noora became friends while studying Plus One in Saudi Arabia and later fell in love. But their relatives forbade this relationship. When they tried to live together, they were forcibly separated. The court directed the Binanipuram police to produce Fatima Noora in court. Adhila was then summoned to the chamber. The two were then allowed to live together on the grounds that it was not forbidden for adults to live together.
