THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: K-Rail said that the state government, which is implementing the Silver Line project, has the power to acquire land and conduct a social impact assessment study. K-Rail came up with the explanation after the Central government told the court that it had not given permission for the Silverline social impact study and had not asked the government to install stones in the name of the survey.
"The government also has the power to place survey stones at the boundary of the alignment. Procedures related to land acquisition are subject to the jurisdiction of the state government. It does not require the special permission of the central government or the railway board. Social impact assessment study is conducted and the survey stone of the alignment is being laid based on the prooject's approval in principle. The office memorandum released by the Union Finance Ministry on August 5, 2016 states what can be done prior to investing in government projects", K-Rail clarified in a Facebook post.
