NEW DELHI: Advertisements are something that always catches the attention of the viewers. They have the potential to influence the viewers too. Hence, even a wrong message portrayed in an advertisement could have great influence on people’s thoughts. Now, a body spray advertisement has become the new talk on social media. Many have opined that the ad promotes rape culture. The video of the ad was shared by Monika Manchanda on Twitter.
The advertisement was from a body spray brand called Layer’r Shot. It shows a boy and a girl sitting in a room. Suddenly, some of his friends barge in and one of them asks, “Hey bro, did you hit a shot?”. “Yes I did”, replies the boy. “Now it’s our turn”, says another boy, while the girl looked at them in a horrified manner. Later, the boys take a body spray from the room. This is the content of the advertisement.
“And NO, Please DO NOT ask me what is so wrong with it. Or DO NOT tell me to lighten up and take a joke. Or chill and move on! Or why am I making this bigger by bringing fear here. Just DO NOT! I will block you,” Monika said in comments. Many people have slammed the ad on social media.
