NEW DELHI: The Congress protests, in connection with the ED questioning of Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald money laundering case, have led to clashes on Wednesday as well. Country-wide protests will be launched on Thursday in connection with incident, said the Congress. All the Raj Bhavans will be besieged on Thursday and protests will be staged at district headquarters on Friday.

The police barging into the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters has provoked a lot of protests from senior leaders, including Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. However, special commissioner Dr Sagar Preet Hooda said that there was no police action at the AICC headquarters. Security has been beefed up in the area in the wake of likely clashes.

Congress activists began protests even before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) began Rahul Gandhi’s questioning. Following which, women leaders including Jebi Mather was taken into custody by the police.

The Congress had staged protests ahead of the questioning on Tuesday as well. Rahul Gandhi was produced before the ED last day, after taking leaders including chief ministers into custody.

Rahul Gandhi was quizzed for nearly 20 hours in two days. The questioning ended by around 11:30 pm last day. Following which, Gandhi visited his mother Sonia Gandhi at the hospital. The ED has summoned Sonia Gandhi for questioning on June 23. However, she is unlikely to appear before the ED, next week. The date shall be extended citing health issues.
