Stray dogs kill and eat newborn abandoned on road

CHENNAI: A newborn baby, who was abandoned in a deserted area, was killed and eaten by stray dogs. The half-eaten body of the infant was found in front of Ponnusamy Theatre in Usilampatti-Theni Road. The child was covered in a cloth and abandoned on the road.

A local, who spotted the stray dogs biting a blood-stained cloth, had informed the police out of suspicion. Following which, the police arrived at the spot and chased away the dogs. On opening the folded cloth, they found the half-eaten body of the infant. The CCTV footages of the area near Ponnusamy Theatre are being examined by the police. Efforts to nab the culprit are underway.
