BUDAPEST: A swimmer who fainted in the pool during the World Championship was rescued by her coach. The incident happened in Budapest during the competition held yesterday and the coach jumped into the pool to save the swimmer.
25-year old American swimmer Anita Alvarez lost consciousness and sinked into the bottom of the pool towards the end of the competition. Coach Andrea Fuentes immediately rushed into the pool. Andrea, a former Olympic medalist from Spain, said that she jumped into the pool because the Life Guard did not come to the rescue.
This is the second time coach Andrea has rescued Anita. Anita fainted during last year's Olympic qualifying competition in Spain also. It was Andrea who jumped into the pool and saved Anita then. Anita's doctors said that she is fine and healthy.
