Minister Antony Raju seeks Rs 250 crore from government to resolve salary crisis in KSRTC

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister Antony Raju has submitted several demands including one-time financial assistance of Rs 250 crore to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in order to resolve the salary crisis in KSRTC. Antony Raju will hold discussions with the Chief Minister on Thursday.

Currently, the government is providing Rs 30 crore for salary distribution. 82 crore is required for salary distribution. KSRTC is seeking assistance of Rs 60 crore per month to resolve the crisis. With Rs 250 crore, KSRTC can pay salaries for five months. It is also estimated that KSRTC will be able to pay the salary on their own within five months. There is also a demand for exemption of state tax on diesel purchased by KSRTC. According to the Sushil Khanna report, the proposal also calls for the introduction of a single duty system.
