KOLLAM: The cleaning labourers arrested came down heavily on the private agency in charge of checking girls after removing the innerwear when they appeared for the NEET Exam at Marthoma College in Ayur. They alleged that they removed the innerwear as per the directive of the agency employees.

The employees of the college said as the innerwear of the students had metal parts, the agency directed to remove them and we just opened the room for the girls to remove it. S Mariyamma and K Mariyamma remanded in the case revealed this.

Meantime, the court rejected the bail pleas of the five employees arrested in the incident. The Kollam Kadakkal Magistrate Court rejected the plea pointing violation of Article 21.

College employees and natives of Ayur identified as S Mariyamma, K Mariyamma, star security employees Geethu, Jyotsna Joby and Beena, natives of Manjapra are those arrested in the case. They were remanded for two weeks. A case was registered against them under IPC 354 (insulting womanhood) and IPC-509 (defamation). The prosecution argued that more have to be arrested and that bail should not be granted till then.
