THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister of Local Self Governments M V Govindan and Opposition leader V D Satheeshan locked horns in the assembly in a news regarding the non-payment of salaries to employees in Malappattam Grama panchayat. Satheeshan stated in the assembly that the employees of the panchayat did daliy wage jobs as their salaries were not paid. Minister M V Govindan denied the news.
Last week, in a walkout speech related to the emergency resolution notice, Satheesan alleged that Babu, an employee of Malappattam panchayat, went to do concrete work because he was not getting his salary. He pointed out some newspaper articles about this. But the Minister denied it and criticised the media and Opposition leader.
Satheeshan again raised the issue on Assembly and cited a video byte proving his argument. But the Minister responded by playing a video in which Babu was seen saying that he was forced to talk against the government. The debate between the two ended after the intervention of the Speaker.
