V R Krishna Teja assumes charge as Alappuzha district collector in absence of Sriram Venkataraman

ALAPPUZHA: V R Krishna Teja IAS has taken over as Alappuzha District Collector after Sriram Venkataraman was replaced following controversies. Krishna Teja had earlier worked as Alappuzha sub collector. Sriram Venkataraman was not present to hand over the charge.

Sriram Venkataraman was shifted from the post and made the General Manager of SupplyCo. Sriram will work at SupplyCo's Kochi headquarters. The Kerala Muslim Jamaat and the AP Sunni faction had expressed their displeasure over the appointment of Sriram as Alappuzha Collector. Sriram is an accused in the case over the death of journalist K M Basheer. It is heard that the new decision of the government is after this.

The UDF had announced to stage protests till he is removed from the post. Alappuzha District Committee of UDF had also decided to start agitation programmes by holding a mass satyagraha in front of the Collectorate on August 6.
