Error in Plus One application, more than 5000 students denied admission

hhg

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Due to technical fault in filling the caste column in Plus One admission online application, 5000 Ezhava students are not included in first allotment list of government schools. Most of them have high scores in SSLC.

In the application, there was a caste column option to fill Ezhava/Thiyya/Billava category. But no proper guidelines regarding this was told from the helpdesk. Also, the non-creamy layer certificate received from Village Office mentions only 'OBC Hindu' and dos not mention the sub-caste. The students and parents says that the mistake occured due to this. So, the students were not considered in reservation category or in general category. It is reported that more than 3000 students were excluded from Malabar itself in first allotment. There are several complaints regarding the need to provide an opportunity to correct mistakes. Otherwise, these students will not be considered for first two allotments and will only get a chance during spot allotments.
