Bribe via Google Pay, MVD officer nabbed in operation Jasoos, lakhs seized

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A vigilance inspection at regional transport offices in the state has found widespread irregularities. Under operation Jasoos conducted in 53 RT offices across the state, it was found that officials, including agents, took bribes from people. The bribe was collected via Google Pay too.

A sum of Rs 1,20,000 was seized from Kottayam and Rs 97,000 from Adimali. Rs 1.5 lakh was recovered from an auto consultancy office in Nedumangad and Rs 1,06,285 from an agent's car at Kondotty RT office. It was also found that the officer had been accepting bribes from agents by delaying vehicle registration applications, licenses and permits. In addition, nine ATM cards were also seized from a motor vehicle inspector in Vadakara.
