police

CHENNAI: The body of a new born baby was found from the bushes near a school in Tamil Nadu. A class XI student had reportedly abandoned the infant after giving birth in the school. The incident took place in Bhuvanagiri in Cuddalore. A case has been registered against a class X student, who impregnated the girl.

The body of the new born was found on Thursday after a student spotted the baby in the bushes. Following which, the school authorities informed the police. As the infant’s umbilical cord was not severed properly, the police suspected that the baby was delivered in the school itself. Later, the police questioned the students and found out that a class XI student had given birth to the baby. The infant was delivered by the student in the school bathroom, after which she abandoned the child near the compound wall and left for home. The girl also revealed that she was impregnated by a class X boy of another school.

The girl has been admitted to the hospital for treatment, while boy has been booked under several sections of the POCSO act.
