MUMBAI: Indian all-rounder Suresh Raina has announced retirement from all formats of cricket. The 35-year-old player made the announcement via social media.

Taking to Twitter, Raina wrote, “It has been an absolute honour to represent my country and state Uttar Pradesh. I would like to announce my retirement from all formats of cricket. I would like to thank BCCI, UPCA Cricket, Chennai IPL, Shukla Rajiv sir and all my fans for their support and unwavering faith in my abilities”.

According to reports, Raina, who had earlier retired from international cricket, announced his retirement from domestic cricket and IPL to play in foreign leagues. He was not picked up by any team in the last IPL season.

As per BCCI rules, no Indian player, who is part of the IPL, can feature in any other overseas league. If he goes to play in foreign leagues without permission, then the player will lose the privileges of the cricket board. As a result, only those Indian players who have announced their retirement from international and domestic competitions have played in foreign leagues.
