KOCHI: The mirror image of Swami Ayyappan received from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's collection will now be a wonder and curiosity in the pooja room of G Kashinath's house. Kashinath, a resident of Perumbavoor, acquired the photo through an online auction.
‘The house was built two years ago. He did not have a photo of Ayyappa Swamy in his house. He took part in the auction after seeing Ayyappan's photo. The whole family was happy after getting the photo the other day,’ said Kashinathan.
He got the picture after paying Rs 2,000, four times the base price, in the six-phases of the auction. The centre’s aim is to use the profits obtained from auctioning the gifts received during various visits for the Namami Ganga Programme', a Ganga cleaning project.
The packed picture of Swamy Ayyappan was kept in the pooja room itself. He and his family hope that Ayyappan will bring peace, happiness and success to their home.
42-year-old Kashinath came to know about the auctioning of the Prime Minister's gifts through social media. He got attracted to the way in which the auction money was used. He said that no one had heard of such auctions before for public purposes. I participated in the auction because I wanted to be a part of the project. Kashinath is an employee of a cooperative society. Dhanya is his wife and Bhadra daughter.
