THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader V D Satheesan said the Governor has confessed that he made a mistake under the pressure of the chief minister. The opposition had earlier alleged that the government and the education minister had irregularly interfered in the appointment of the Kannur University VC and the governor had illegally reappointed the vice-chancellor due to their pressure. The opposition leader said the governor had confirmed this today. Satheesan said the governor's statement justifies the objection of the opposition.

Satheesan said the Governor has confessed that he made a mistake under the pressure of the chief minister. However, the leader of the opposition criticised that a confession will not change the mistake and that the government who has connection with the RSS-backed governor is now saying that he is harassing the government.
Satheesan said both are staging a play and it is not the opposition that has to answer. It is not clear why the governor is saying now things that happened at the historical congress in Kannur. It is the chief minister in charge of the home department, not the opposition, who should answer it.

Satheesan said that he welcomed the Governor's statement of not signing the Lokayukta Bill and the University Bill. The opposition leader said the opposition had demanded this earlier.
