Drunk political leader rapes air hostess; victim locks accused in room before calling police

NEW DELHI: An air hostess has accused her friend of raping her in a drunken state. The incident took place at Mehrauli in Southern Delhi. The accused, Harjith Yadav, a block president of a political party, was arrested by the police and presented in court. The court has remanded him to judicial custody.

The incident took place on Sunday when Harjith Yadav in an inebriated state molested the air hostess. After the attack, the victim was able to lock Harjith in the room and dial 112 to inform the police about the incident. The police soon arrived and took Harjith into custody.

The air hostess and the accused were friends for the past one-and-half months. On the complaint of the victim, the police registered a case against Harjith Yadav under IPC sections 376, 323, 509, and 377.
