Lied on roadside after celebration; two youths run over by car

KOLLAM: Two youths, who were sleeping on the roadside after the Onam celebrations, were killed after being run over by a car. The deceased have been identified as Kotuvankonam native Shibu (35) and Paripally native Sajad (34).

The accident took place in front of the Kottuvankonam Vishnu temple on the Paravur-Chathannur road around 11.50 on Monday night. Although the two were about to return to their homes after attending the celebration, the bike broke down. Following this, they decided to sleep on the roadside. As they were sleeping, an overspeeding car from the Paravur region ran over them. The car driver did not stop the car. Though the two were immediately rushed to the Parippally Medical College, they could not be saved. According to the police, although there was light on the road, the car driver might not have noticed people lying on the road. The bodies were handed over to the relatives after post-mortem.
