Incident where young woman and her child were ousted from husband's house: Case registered against husband, mother-in-law and sister-in-law

KOLLAM: Police have registered a case in the incident where a woman and her child were thrown out of her husband's house in Thazhuthala. The Kottiyam police have registered a case against the woman's husband, mother-in-law and sister-in-law. Pratheesh Lal, his mother Ajithakumari and sister Praseetha have been booked for dowry harassment and under various sections of the Juvenile Justice Act.

A woman named DV Athulya and her son were ousted from the house at Thazhuthala in Kottiyam yesterday. The family ousted Athulya and locked the gate when she went out of the house to pick up her son from school. Athulya and her son, who remained in front of the gate till 11.30 pm, managed to jump the wall and enter the sit-out of the house with the help of the locals. The mother and son remained in the sit-out till morning.

Athulya alleged that she had been undergoing harassment over dowry since her marriage. She remained outside the house for 17 hours. Earlier, the National and State Women's Commission and Child Rights Commission intervened in the matter
