ALAPPUZHA: Kerala has implemented Uttar Pradesh’s bulldozer drive of crushing criminals and mafia. The action of bulldozing the houses where families of criminals stay and business establishments run by them were implemented in Kerala like UP. The step was taken by Kerala Excise in Alappuzha. The excise department brought a JCB and demolished the shop where ganja was sold under the cover of a wayside eatery in Charummood Junction.
Nooranad range inspector Akhil nabbed a youth with ganja near the shop while patrolling. Twelve grams of ganja were seized from him. When he was interrogated, he told them that Shaiju Khan, a native of Puthupallipuram and the owner of the shop, gave him the stuff. The excise also found that ganja was sold at night focusing Khan’s shop and house. He sold a pack of ganja for Rs 500.
An investigation by the excise found that this shop is located in poramboke land. Excise recommended the governing body of the panchayat to stop the functioning of the shop. The governing body approved this and permitted the excise to demolish the shop.
