Moon will appear blood-red on night, a unique celestial event in the sky on Monday

kk

Jupiter, the planet shining next to moon in the sky was a fascinating sight which people witnessed during last month. The science geeks and stargazers have once again got an opportunity to witness a unique celestial event is on coming Monday. When the dusk falls, the moon would appear blood-red in the horizon. The moon appears so on November 8 when the Sun, Earth, and Moon align in a straight line.

The lunar eclipse happens when the Sun, Earth, and Moon align in a straight line so that the Moon passes into Earth's shadow. During the total lunar eclipse, the entire Moon falls within the darkest part of Earth's shadow, which gives it a unique blood-red appearance. The more dust or clouds in Earth's atmosphere during an eclipse, the redder the Moon will appear. The change in colour of the Moon is due to the same phenomenon that makes our sky blue and our sunsets red. The longer wavelength of red light is the reason behind this phenomenon. Such a total lunar eclipse will occur only in March 2025 after this.
