THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It has been recommended to hike the price of milk in the state by Rs 8 per litre. The interim report was given by the panel appointed by Milma. The panel has recommended to increase from Rs 7 to Rs 8 per litre. Representatives of the three unions will hold an emergency meet today to discuss the price hike. The decision will be informed to the government after this.
The assessment of the committee is that only if the price is increased from Rs 7 to 8 per litre, the farmer will get at least Rs 6 after commission etc. The farmers had complained that even though the milk price was increased the last time, they received only Rs 3.66 paise after the commission.
