Facebook and Instagram accounts of those below 18 on radar, restrictions on social media use of minors, parental consent required

kk

Social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook have millions of users from all age groups. It has become an inevitable part of lifestyle. Many such platforms have age restrictions, but there are no specific ways to ensure them. Therefore, even if a person is below the age limit, they can easily create an account by changing the date of birth.

But the central government has decided to impose new restrictions on the use of social media by people below the age of 18. The central government's move is to ensure the family’s consent for creating social media accounts for this age group. It is reported that a law will be made for this purpose.

The purpose of the Digital Personal Data Protection Bill is to prevent misuse of information about minors. Once this law comes into effect, social media platforms will be able to collect children's information only with parental permission.
