Family members of open work permit holders will become eligible to work in Canada

TORONTO: The Canadian government has announced that from January 2023 it will extend work permits to family members of all temporary foreign workers. This temporary two-year measure will be introduced in a phased manner. This will benefit foreigners including thousands of Indian professionals.

The open work permit allows foreign nationals to work in Canada for any employer and any job. Immigration Minister Sean Fraser announced that spouses and children of foreign workers will be eligible to work in Canada. The family members of more than two lakh foreign workers will be benefited at present.
