FIFA World Cup: Morocco stun Spain in penalty shootout; African team enter quarter

DOHA: Spain has suffered a shocking defeat to Morocco in the pre-quarter match of the FIFA World Cup. Morocco knocked out Spain by winning the penalty shootout 3-0. This was Spain's fourth World Cup loss in a penalty shootout, the most by a team on football's biggest stage.

During the 90 minutes plus extra time, Spain dominated possession but failed to create many clear chances against Morocco’s stubborn defence. Morocco advanced to a quarter-final clash with either Portugal or Switzerland who meet later on Tuesday.
