himachal-polls

SHIMLA: With the counting of votes crossing the halfway mark, Congress are headed for an absolute majority by leading in 38 seats while BJP is leading in 27 seats after giving a close fight for hours. Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party is yet to lead a single seat. In the 68-member Vidhan Sabha in Himachal, 35 seats are required to form the government.

However, several exit polls predicted that BJP will come to power in Himachal overcoming the stern fight from Congress. Exit polls had predicted BJP to get 24-41 seats and Congress 20-40 seats. Most of the surveys gave the BJP an edge in Himachal Pradesh.

The India Today-Axis My India survey gave a slight edge to the Congress by predicting a win in 30-40 seats and the BJP in 24-34 seats.
